WTF? A Parent Teacher Conference? Just Who Is In Trouble Here?

Well, it finally happened!  My absolutely perfect kid got us a parent teacher conference!  I am not sure how I feel about this.  I expected that this would happen once or twice seeing that he is MY kid.  Lord knows I found myself in the principal's office on several occasions and there were quite a few phone calls home during my esteemed tenure in the educational system.  ;)

Our "conference" is tomorrow at 11am.  That in and of itself has me kinda pissed.  There is no "real" reason given for the conference and I don't like that it is on "their time and terms".  We will have 15-20 mins to hear what the problems are and to flesh out a solution.  Are you fucking kidding me?  The teachers (two of them) are going to enlighten us as to what the problems are and I am suppose to do what on the spot?  I am certain that I won't be able to think quick enough on my feet in 15-20 mins to come up with a solution.  I feel that I am automatically put in a position where I have to "apologize" for whatever it is that is "wrong".

The phone call came in from my son's homeroom teacher who is also his Math teacher.  It is her and another teacher that want to meet with us.  I tried to ask a few questions during the phone call (which lasted less than 5 minutes) but she just said that they have specific meeting times and offered 11am or 12:20. He came home with a report card Friday and had 2 As, 2 Bs and 2 Cs.  It doesn't take smarts to know that the 2 C teachers are the ones that want to meet.

I KNEW there were issues creeping up a few weeks ago.  I was proactive and sent an email.  Here, we have to email the "lead" teacher who then "passes the email on" to the other teachers on the team.  My email consisted of several social situations that I knew were starting up.  In my opinion, they are the small seeds of being bullied.  Again, that's my opinion.  Regardless, ALL the teachers within the last two weeks emailed back to tell me that, "Oh my goodness, no - he is a wonderful kid in class, pays attention and is no problem to them and seems to get along with his peers well."  My ass......... I KNEW something was happening and I got NOTHING.

Wish us luck!!!!

    1. LOL! He is just making sure you stay on your toes! I have to admit - we are thankful (now) that we had the conference. Nothing is out of hand at all but there was potential for it..... ;)
